Single-tooth implant cost

How much does one dental implant cost?

A single “implant price” often excludes the crown. Here is how to compare fixture, crown and case-specific extras without mixing unlike quotes.

U.S. single-implant benchmark

CareCredit reports a national average of $2,143 for the implant fixture, with a range of $1,646 to $4,157. Importantly, that figure does not include the crown. Its published range for an individual crown is $488 to $3,254.

Component math: Using only those two published ranges produces a rough fixture + crown span of $2,134 to $7,411. That is not an all-in quote because other services may be needed.

What should be included in a quote?

Ask whether the price includes the implant fixture, abutment, final crown, imaging, surgical guide if used, anesthesia or sedation, temporary tooth and follow-up visits. If the clinic quotes only an “implant,” ask whether the crown is separate.

What can push the total higher?

Extractions, bone grafting, sinus augmentation, management of gum disease, complex anatomy and additional imaging can all change the plan. Mayo Clinic notes that some patients need grafting before or during implant placement and that healing may take months.

How long does a single implant take?

The process is usually staged. Cleveland Clinic describes implant placement followed by a healing phase in which the jawbone integrates with the implant; that phase can take roughly three to nine months depending on healing. The abutment and final restoration follow after adequate healing.

How to compare two “single implant” prices

  1. Confirm whether both include the crown.
  2. Ask for the implant brand/system and restoration material.
  3. Separate required procedures from optional upgrades.
  4. Confirm temporary-tooth and follow-up costs.
  5. For travel cases, include flights, lodging and return-visit requirements.
